Application:
Circlip grooving on CV joints

Industry:
Automotive

Success Story:

"When we made the switch to the Groovidex style inserts,
we noticed a cost reduction of 30%-83% in the grooving operation."

Application:
Hydraulic braking systems

Industry:
Machine Shop

Success Story:
"We were having a very tough time cutting a tree-pan dia. on an inside bore dia. The tree-pan started at a depth of over 4 inches inside the bore at a dia. of 2.500/3.750, and no other company had a tree-pan tool to reach this depth.

Then we heard about Manchester grooving tools, got a Catalog and found what we were looking for...deep grooving tools. We decided on toolholder (#235-01) with a blade assembly of (#338-122)&(#388-121) with inserts (#506-103-36)&(#506-103-40)

Wow!! What a difference: no chatter, nice chip break and best of all... a nice finish on both sides of the tree-pan groove, deep down inside the part."

"THANK YOU, Manchester for making our lives here
a lot less stressful! We will never use anything else
but MANCHESTER for deep grooving."

Success Story:

"Your new parting tool leaves such a nice finish we no longer need to set up a second operation to face off the back side."

Application:
Valves for the Power Industry

Industry:
OEM

Success Story:
"We used to purchase Threading inserts from a competitor. We now use a Manchester Octicut 570-221-36-M40 8 Acme. We went from changing corners every 15-20 pieces...but now we only change corners about every 75-100 parts."

"This was an unbelievable change for us. We have tried
others in the past but none with anywhere near
the success of Manchester inserts."

-Roger P., Shop Supervisor

Application:
Face Grooving

Industry:
Machine Shop

Success Story:
"Not only did it cut cost per cut, but it worked when nothing else would. For rough face grooving approximately 20 square inches of 625 inconel in 30 minutes, Manchester's face groover with an m43 grade insert got it done."

"Not only did it cut cost per cut, but it worked
when nothing else would."

Application:
Interrupted Grooving

Industry:
Automotive Manufacturing

Success Story:
"During a launch of a new, high volume product line I tried several grades of top notch grooving inserts from various companies. The application was on powdered metal with copper infiltration, an interrupted cut on a 129.0 mm diameter and a hardness spec of 450 BHN. The best tool life I could get was around 85 pcs per corner. If one corner of the top notch inserts broke, the support for the other corner was not strong enough to use.

With the 4 corner groove inserts from Manchester, all 4 corners may be used even if the edge is broken off. This maximizes cost efficency of the inserts and reduces the need to replace damaged tool holders. The first grade tested from Manchester produced tool life around 110 pcs per corner and the second (and current grade, M43) is consistantly producing tool life of 180 pcs per corner with no changes in the speeds or feeds and very few offsets required for size changes.

This tool life increase helps reduce scrap and tool changes, increases the production lines' efficiency due to fewer machine stoppages for tool changes and dramatically reduces the cost per part."

"Before Manchester, the best tool life I could get
was 85 pcs per corner. Manchester's 4 corner groove
inserts produce 180 pcs per corner.
